I had the real pleasure of spending an hour of valentine’s day with one of my wedding couples, Guy & Michelle the other weekend. They are getting married at the stunning wedding venue, Redhouse Barns later this year so we decided to take the opportunity to have a catch up, go through some wedding details and take a few photos. Mother nature was doing her best to keep us on our toes during our pre wedding shoot but we saw an opening in a pretty bleak looking day and went for it, with some quite dramatic results. Guy and Michelle took the opportunity to bring their beautiful and energetic pet dog Bentley, a poodle cross i believe. Someone once told me of a Labradoodle or am i just gullible? Anyway.........
We opted for the Lickey Hills for our pre-wedding photography shoot and hopefully from the images below you will see why. I am trying to feature the very best of my home city, Birmingham wherever possible and this country park certainly ticks that box. Covering an area of 524 acres, the Lickey Hills Country Park is one of Birmingham’s most varied and treasured parks. I have many childhood memories exploring the woodlands, playing football high up on Beacon hill with the breath-taking backdrop of Birmingham city centre behind. Right at the top there is a rather elaborate toposcope, a stone built monument resembling a fort with elevated views right across Birmingham and beyond. To me, my Dad and my brother, this was better known as “the castle” with many a battle fought, won and lost right there at the top of those hills!
Follows are a selection of images taken during our walk ……
