Jewellery Quarter Birmingham | Pre Wedding Photography | Carolyn + Matt
Next up on the blog, another Birmingham pre wedding photography series, this time at the amazing Jewellery Quarter.
For my Brummie readers, you will know this place very well. In my short lifetime, all 30ish years ;) , I have witnessed the huge transformation of this area. My Mom (brummie for Mum) worked in the Jewellery Quarter when I was growing up, so our meet up brought back many childhood memories from all my visits to her shop. Its history goes back to the industrial revolution where a huge concentration of businesses, funnily enough focusing on the jewellery trade evolved. Like many other British industries that have seen great highs however, in more recent times have sadly seen its lows as the industry has gradually declined. It’s not all doom and gloom though as what remains are some amazing architecture all packed within a few blocks, right in the heart of Birmingham City Centre. Property entrepreneurs and creative businesses have been quick to recognise this, converting the Grade II listed building which are in their hundreds into amazing spaces to live and work. Once peaky blinder style spit and sawdust pubs are now the place to be seen for the cool cats in town. It’s been wonderful to witness its resurgence, you can feel the buzz about the place when you visit so long may that continue.
So having previously owned an apartment in the Jewellery quarter and also having lots of fond memories of the place, Carolyn and Matt thought that this would be the perfect place for us to all meet up, take a few pre wedding photos and grab a cheeky midday pint at the Rosa Villa Tavern – happy days ! It was lovely to catch up with these pair and I for one can’t wait for their big day……
